Found only a few hours from the capital and at the base of the western slopes of Pichincha, the Mindo-Tambillo cloud corest (1,200) is a subtropical paradise with temperatures ranging from 15º to 24º Celsius (59º to 75º F).
Here you will find the Hosteria El Carmelo de Mindo, located among five rivers conveniently located just outside the village.
Hosteria El Carmelo de Mindo is a Ecuadorian-run lodge, nested in the beginning of the cloud forest, one of the most important, diverse and endangered habitats in the world. Many species lived in this valley known as the " The valley of the eternal spring" some of them are recognized, because of their beauty and importance within the habitat that they belong
Orchids, Helicoids, bromeliad are the special plants that Mindo owns. However, the importance of Mindo, comes from its great amount of birds -around 450-, this is the reason why this beautiful spot was considered by Bird Life International , as "An important area to watch birds in Latin American". We agree the decision and built this cozy and nice lodge witch its principal mission is to create and area where people and nature can mix together in order to enjoy and preserve this treasure.

Hosteria Septimo Paraiso is located at just 1 1/2 hours from Quito, Ecuador; 2 km from la Y de Mindo, towards the village. The Tandayapa and Mindo Vallies, just 84 km northwest of Quito, is one of the best birding sites in South America. Around 430 species have been recorded, with 370 around Mindo alone, the birding here is excellent with species such as: Toucan Barbet, Scaled Antpitta, Spillman`s Tapaculo, Little Woodstar, Long-Wattled Umbrellabird, Tanager-finch, Black-crowned Tityra, Golden-Bellied Warbler, Torrent Duck,White-capped Dipper and many more.
